Blountsville was an important 19th century settlement in northern Jones County, Georgia. The settlement was devastated by
U.S. Army troops during Major General W. T. Sherman's Campaign of 1864. Today the ruins of early Blountsville rest on the
Oconee National Forest. These remains were identified by an archaeological survey in 1988 (Elliott 1988).
The ruins of this settlement await.
