Lost City Survey

An Evolving Inventory

The Southeastern United States contains many extinct urban settlements from the 18th and 19th century, which are a most interesting archaeological and historical subject. The goal of the LAMAR Institute's "Lost City Survey" is research, locate, identify, and rank these sites. This website presents summary data (primarily from Georgia and South Carolina) from this active project.
